Art Docent

A volunteer is needed from each classroom to be an art docent. An art docent is simply a parent who comes to the classroom once a month for approximately an hour and presents information to the children about painters, sculptors and artists from various time periods and cultures. The presentations include color reproductions of famous works of art and an art-based activity based on the featured artists.

You do not need an art history background or even know anything about art! As the art docent you will attend one training session at the beginning of the year and learn how to present the information to your child’s class. The only requirement is that you enjoy sharing and presenting interesting facts about artists, different cultures, history and the ways in which artists portray their personal vision to us.

Art is an important part of our children’s education. Please help insure that our children learn and become inspired by all the great artists!
