Thank you for signing up for Parent-Teacher conferences. Many of the conferences are lined up one after the other, so please be on time so we can use the full 30 minutes for each conference. Your child will be the center of our attention and deserves every minute that we can give. I enclosed copies of the 2 weeks of conferences as a reminder. If you haven’t signed up yet, please write your name in an available spot and return the conference schedule in your child’s Friday Folder. If you can’t make any of the available times, we can try to make other arrangements. Just let me know of any problems.
Our topic this week was “How do machines help people work?” We read about large trucks and machines that help us do the heavy work. Our target skills were classifying & categorizing objects, and emphasis on the sound of letter Tt.
What we’ve been doing:
~ Language Arts: many rhyming activities and worksheets; practiced writing sight words; started blending & segmenting small words; played with words that start with Tt; used words that describe sizes (big, little, tall, short).
~ Decodable stories: “Tam!” Ask your child to read each word while tracking with a “reading finger.”
~ Sight (high frequency) words: “a, to.”
~ Math: Oct. calendar bottom in an a/b pattern; continue to practice 1-5; started working with 6; counted many times daily.
Homework: (1) 2-sided page number practice (2) Rhyming words (3) Words that start with the Tt sound.
