Dear Parents,
It was a good week in class. The children are getting used to the routine of kindergarten, and each day they become more independent. We are moving quickly through the alphabet, and we will be reviewing the letters throughout the year. Any time spent working with your child at home to learn the letter names would be helpful. The children also learned two new sight words this week. The words the and little were used in their new take home book called Little Me!. Please take time to read this with your child at home to review the sight words. In language arts we also talked about sequencing stories. We used the terms Beginning, Middle and End of stories. Most of the children were able to understand this, and we will be working on it throughout the year. In math, we continued working on our numbers 1 through 5. The children had a chance to play more games with these numbers, as well as practice writing them. I have sent home a family math letter that will give your child some more practice counting with you. This week we also began Lu Sutton in Motion. The kindergarteners had a chance to go out and learn new movements to music for 15 minutes every day but Wednesday. We will continue this throughout the year. The kids seem to really enjoy the dance steps. If you are ever by the class at 9:45 feel free to join us.
Thanks Again,
Steve Madson
* There is a book order form in this week’s Friday Folder with a note about how to order. This is a great way to get books at a reasonable price.
